CB or Citizen Band Radio was borning about 1947 in USA. In Europe, first CB Radio was used in 1976, but the greatest stage was from 1983 to 1999.
People need something to contact. Ok, they have phone, but they needs something new. CB Radio takes it. People may used radio to speak with neighbors, family who was in car, people with another country.
Now, in mobile phone period, we use CB Radio like hobbies. But still very useful.

Typical range of CB, which used FM modulation and 4 W power, is from 10 to 25 km.
This is still the best way to inform about traffic, car incident, dangerous. The best is, the CB Radio may use everybody and may mount in every cars.

For people who like off Road, adventures, the best way is PMR (Private Mobile Radio). This is small hand radio which used frequency 446 MHz. Because PMR have small range (about 2-3 km) and it is handheld, this is the best to connect You with Your pilot.
